Cedar Mill Cider Festival was well attended...

Hi- This Sunday the sun was out in the afternoon for the Cedar Mill Cider Festival. My daughter and I got to the festival at during opening hours. By the look of things it looked as if the festival going to have a good turn out.

At the festival, there was fresh cider churned by the local Scouts, lots of food, live music, and a few local vendor tents. The John Quincy Young House had descendants on hand to share family history.

The John Quincy Young House is up for restoration. Donations can be sent to JQA Young House, 11900 NW Cornell, Portland, OR 97229. The house is located on Cornell Road.

Have a great week!

Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie Island is becoming a Halloween tradition...

Hi- Every year me and my daughter visit Sauvie Island (outside of Portland) for our annual pumpkin selection. We have seen the Pumpkin Patch turn more into a favorite Halloween spot over the years. There is a country store to purchase fresh produce, a gift store, corn maze, hay rides, animal barn, barrel ride for tots, and a good place to get a hamburger from the concessions trailer. My advice is to get to the farm early in the day for the parking gets full.

This is a great place for the family and we find the pumpkin crew very friendly.

Happy Halloween!

Craig.

One year ago I took photos of this cemetery for Find A Grave...

Hi- Tonight I was reviewing some of my cemetery photos for my blog. I realised that it has been one year since my daughter and I took photos of the Pioneer Catholic Cemetery of Saint Anthony of Padua, established 1879. The weather was about the same as it is today, cold and damp.

The brief history of the cemetery is that the site is 1.4 acres donated by once parishioners and the Archbishop F. W. Blanchet. On the site, the church and school once stood. The final service in the church was held in 1916.

Joseph Murray who is buried on the property where he once attended the school and church. Other family members of Joseph are also buried at the cemetery.

This pioneer cemetery can be found on S. W. Murray Blvd. in Beaverton, Washington Co., Ore. The location is not far from HWY 26.

A & W Restaurant family puts a smile on my face...

Hi- When you have a chance to go through Hillsboro, Ore. drive slowly by the A & W Restaurant family. This A & W Burger family can put a smile on your face with their happy faces.
I "grew-up" with this family of Mama, Papa, Teen, and Baby in the days of yesterday. This was a drive-in culture of the 1950s and the 1960s. Not to mention the delicious food this restaurant use to serve.
Check it out!
